For only the fourth time in the history of US currency, there will be a new $100 bill debuting on October 8, 2013. The new $100 note is the latest denomination of U.S. currency to be redesigned. Over a decade of research and development went into its new security features.
The new bill has been redesigned to make it easier to authenticate, but harder to counterfeit. It has advanced security features – the 3-D Security Ribbon and the Bell in the Inkwell – that offer a simple and subtle way to verify that a new $100 note is real.
Learn more about additional features that have been added to protect the integrity of the new $100 note.
Please note, all U.S. currency remains legal tender, regardless of when it was issued.
